Imaginary and socio-ecological prospective scenarios

In this module, you will explore the links between prospective scenarios, imaginaries and engineering. In particular, you will examine how imaginaries, which are social and cultural rather than technical, can contribute to an engineering approach that promotes sustainable, desirable and realistic socio-technical trajectories.

By the end of this module, you should:

• Be able to explain how socio-ecological issues may require the use of imagination and prospective scenarios

• Be able to make the connection between the relevance of prospective scenarios and engineering approaches

• Be able to analyse a prospective scenario critically (considering its context of creation, its intentions, its methodology, etc.)

• Discover the four scenarios of ADEME Transition(s) 2050
